If you answered both last year’s and this year’s survey, you noticed that we cut down considerably on the number of questions. We are tremendously grateful to each and every one of you who took the time to share your comments with us.

No change in our top three services

When we asked you which three services you used the most during the year, you answered:

  1. Job offers (53 %)
  2. Signature events (45 %) and talks (45 %)
  3. Webinars (35 %)

Our job offers obviously continue to be very popular. Your suggestions, along with the feedback we receive throughout the year, will guide us in revamping this service in the year to come.

Training opportunities high on your list of priorities

As our industry goes through a period of rapid change, the demand for professional development (talks, signature events, etc.) is not waning, according to the priorities you identified for the coming year. This was followed once again by networking opportunities, which our community continues to enjoy and appreciate.

Of the 14 choices given, your top five program topics were:

  1. Portfolio management and private wealth management
  2. Artificial intelligence and big data
  3. Soft skills
  4. Alternative investments
  5. Economy

With regard to soft skills, as these are not exclusive to our industry, we will be taking a closer look at this offering to ensure that what we provide doesn’t overlap with the activities available elsewhere on the market and through your employers.

Going forward, we will strive to find the best fit for the needs of our members who are looking for information on a wide variety of timely subjects of interest to the investment community.

Learning from various sources

Members’ preferred learning channels as they currently stand are covered by CFA Montréal’s services. But as technology evolves and these channels change, we expect to see new solutions emerge. The growing popularity of videos and podcast episodes speak to this.

  1. On-demand webinars
  2. Talks
  3. Webinars
  4. Suggested reading
  5. Videos
  6. Podcasts

It’s important to remember that many of you continue to feel that reading is one of the best ways to stay up on the newest developments. Which is why the CFA Institute Research & Policy Center is brimming over with all sorts of information from and about the investment industry. Be sure to make it a frequent destination.

We were quite surprised by one of these statistics: a full 56 % of you do not record your professional learning credits with CFA Institute, and 6 % of you were not even aware that this was an option. And yet, it is our considered opinion that this program is more than worthwhile in stressing the importance of continuing education and raising the bar for our profession.

Thank you for being a part of our community!

A new survey question asked you to rate your sense of belonging and community within CFA Montréal. The average score was a solid 7/10, which we were very happy to see.

Your ongoing commitment means the world to us. You can count on CFA Montréal to continue to promote the CFA charter, forge strong ties with key stakeholders in our ecosystem and find ways to serve you even better. Our new 2024–2027 strategic plan will guide us forward as we work to make these priorities a reality.
