McGill University Team Wins Local Research Challenge Finals

We raise our hats to the teams from Concordia, McGill and HEC Montréal who participated in the 2024 Research Challenge! Despite the demands of their academic studies and, for some, the CFA program, these incredible students impressed all those present with their determination, ambition and winning spirit.  

This year’s fascinating case study was provided by TC Transcontinental Inc. After months of research and intensive preparation, the teams presented the results of their analyses to the panel of industry experts. It was an extraordinary opportunity for the participants to acquire hands-on experience, and they definitely rose to the challenge.

CFA Montréal and CFA Québec hosted the local finals on February 15, at Espace CDPQ. It was there that the students from McGill University emerged victorious! Our warmest congratulations go to Owen Anderson, Charles Kiriazis, Britton Quirk, Philippe Rabello and Jordan Rindler.

Thanks are due to the winners’ faculty advisor, Vadim di Pietro, CFA, as well as their mentor, Dion Madsen, CFA, for helping them prepare for this eye-opening experience that is sure to give all participants a competitive edge in their future careers.

The winners will now represent Quebec at the regional competition hosted by CFA Institute. There, they will have the chance to win a spot at the global finals, which will take place in Poland in May. We wish them the very best of luck.
