February 16 was the local finals of the CFA Institute’s Research Challenge competition, an annual international competition for university students that provides hands-on coaching and intensive training of financial analysis. Students from Concordia, HEC Montreal, Laval, and McGill universities competed by evaluating the financial prospects of the Quebec company WSP Global.

CFA Montreal and CFA Quebec are uniting their voices to warmly congratulate the winners of this competition: Maxime Amyot, Olivier Benoit, Mathieu Hinse, Charles-Olivier Matton and Maya Pelletier, who distinguished themselves by the quality of their research and presentation. The winners are awarded a scholarship offered by CFA Montreal to register for one of the CFA program exams.

We would like to highlight the participation of all the students and the involvement of the professors as well as those of the many volunteers who hold the CFA title who acted as evaluators or mentors for the teams. Thanks also to the judges of this competition: Hugues Bourgeois (CDPQ), Frédéric Tremblay, CFA (Valeurs Mobilières Desjardins) and Teddy Li, CFA (CN Railways Pension Trust Fund).

Our winners will represent Quebec in the regional Canadian quarterfinals next March. Good luck!
