Dear Members and Candidates,

I am very excited to be welcoming you to CFA Montréal’s 2022–2023 season, featuring a compelling lineup of in-person and online events. The turnout at our activities over the past two years has made it clear just how much everyone appreciates the flexibility of this hybrid approach.

Kicking things off will be none other than Charles Emond, President and Chief Executive Officer of CDPQ, who will be the very special guest speaker at our exclusive networking reception. Come hear what he has to say about the current business climate, sustainable investing, especially as it relates to climate-related challenges, the changing role of the investor,  and reconnect with your industry peers as fall gets underway.

Speaking of fall, we have lots of other events coming up for you in the next few months, including a dinner seminar on October 19 on Effecting Change: Having the Courage to Speak Up in the Financial Industry , with Sonya Dreizler (Choir) and Desiree Fixler (VentureESG). You definitely won’t want to miss their candid conversation about what it’s like to be a whistleblower. Similarly, our December 7 webinar on ESG Regulations and Reporting: What Should Investors Expect to See? promises to be a must, if only for the up-to-the-minute insights of Rommie Johnson (IFRS Foundation) and Chris Fidler (CFA Institute).

How can we do better? Over to you…

As part of our ongoing commitment to giving our members an opportunity to voice their feedback, we will be undertaking several initiatives in the next while to ask you about your needs, your thoughts and your suggestions. Your answers will guide us in making choices that are in your best interests, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that we are aligned with our members’ expectations and can keep pace with an ever-changing industry. We are counting on you for your input, and we thank you for doing your part to help us constantly improve the services we provide.

Unique events for our members

Be sure to check our website frequently for the latest updates to our event calendar. Our programming committee is hard at work to bring you a wide range of activities designed to educate, enlighten and inspire. We will continue to explore a number of themes of topical interest to help you keep current on the latest trends and innovations in such areas as ESG, fintech, industry standards, ethics, and diversity and inclusion.

Last but certainly not least, we will also be opening up registrations for our mentoring program in September and resuming our outreach efforts aimed at Montreal-area universities. Through both, we hope to be able to deliver on our pledge to help shape the industry leaders of tomorrow.

Our thanks go out to the CFA Montréal Board of Directors and all the volunteers whose involvement makes all this and more possible.

I wish you all a great start to the season, and I’m glad we’ll have so many opportunities to cross paths this fall!
