Principles for Investment Reporting

The Principles for Investment Reporting, a key initiative of the sector, serve to facilitate dialogue between the report preparers and users. Trust is built through clear and transparent reporting, and these principles encourage investors to focus on securing their financial future in partnership with investment professionals.

This statement, which all CFA® professionals must adopt, is based on the five following principles:

  • Communication occurs between the preparer and the user as to the purpose of and need for investment reporting
  • Control processes, policies, and procedures are documented and followed
  • Client preferences are reflected in the investment report;
  • Clear and transparent presentation of investment risks and results
  • Comprehensive fee disclosure
