Python 101: Understanding the Language and the Core Concepts

Learn the basics of Python, a programming language that will allow you to optimize your portfolio management and conduct in-depth data analysis.

Taught in an interactive virtual classroom, this course is designed for professionals who wish to familiarize themselves with the fundamentals of Python. Building gradually from the essentials up, you will be coached through applying what you have learned to develop scripts for a range of applications.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

‐ Describe the basic syntax of Python

‐ Develop Python scripts

‐ Access data with Python

‐ Track program execution, and pinpoint and fix problems.

A basic understanding of algorithms is strongly recommended.

The seven-hour introductory course will be taught in French online (via Zoom) by an instructor from the École de technologie supérieure. It will take place over two Wednesday afternoons, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on October 20 and 27, 2021 (3.5 hours each). The course will be divided evenly between interactive lectures and hands-on exercises.
