1 - Future of money

Tim Lane, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, will address some key questions the Bank has been asking about the future of money. He will discuss ongoing work to build a modern, faster, more efficient and competitive payments system. He will explore how technology is affecting the way Canadians make payments and what that means for the future of cash. And he will explain the Bank’s current thinking on central bank digital currency: under what conditions, if any, would it consider creating a digital equivalent of cash?

Laurent Féral-Pierssens will bring his point of view on the subject.
