The Montreal Exchange Bourse de Montréal Inc. ("Montréal Exchange") is Canada's oldest exchange. It was the first Canadian exchange to list equity options and to establish a major futures market. Today, the Montréal Exchange is fully electronic. It offers both individual and institutional investors a wide range of equity, index and interest rate derivative products. Clearing services are offered through the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation. The Montréal Exchange also offers training (e-learning and in-class) through the Derivatives Institute. The Toronto Stock Exchange The largest capital market in Canada, the TSE has more than 1,400 listed companies. Among them are the biggest corporations in Canada. In 1998, the value of shares traded hit more than $490 billion. On average, that's around $2 billion a day in share transactions.
The Canadian Venture Exchange The November 29th, 1999 merger of the Vancouver and Alberta stock exchanges marked the beginning of the Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX). The goal of CDNX is to provide venture companies with effective access to capital while protecting investors. Its products and services are offered in major cities across Canada through regional service centres, each of which will be staffed to deliver benefits to listed companies, investors and members. As part of the overall Canadian capital market restructuring, CDNX plays a key role as one of Canada's three specialized exchanges, complementing the Toronto Stock Exchange home to the senior equities market, and the Montreal Exchange the market for derivatives products.
The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec ranks among the largest portfolio managers in North America and is the leading public fund manager in Canada.
